  • Description

The Max-Prop Easy is a step forward in Max-Prop design. This propeller replaces the well-known Max-Prop Classic, facilitating simplicity for the customer without sacrificing performance. The Easy model’s main attributes over the Classic are: 1) ease of installation (simple bolt on to the shaft); and 2) flexibility of pitch adjustment without the need of a haul out.

All the Easy models share the following features:

    • Easy bolt on installation
    • Externally adjustable pitch
    • Outstanding reverse
    • Low drag under sail
  • Two Blade Easy features:
    • Efficient forward power
    • Very low drag under sail
    • Available from 11" to 18" diameter
    • For shafts 3/4" to 1-1/8"
    • Best suited for all racing boats or smaller cruisers
    Three Blade Easy features:
    • Added forward power
    • Runs much smoother than a two blade
    • Low drag under sail (slightly more than a 2 blade)
    • Available from 12" to 26"
    • For shafts 3/4" to 1-3/4"
    • Best suited for 24’ to 55’ cruiser (medium displacement)
    Four Blade Easy features:
    • Outstanding forward power
    • Very smooth running (no vibrations)
    • Low drag under sail
    • Available from 14" to 26"
    • For shafts 3/4" to 1-3/4"
    • Best suited for 40' to 70' cruiser (medium to heavy displacement)
  • Fits Shafts

    2, 3 & 4 Blade Easy

Available for shafts 3/4" to 1-3/4" or metric equivalent also available for SailDrives.

  • Shipping

Please allow 3-5 days of handling before we can ship your Max-Prop propeller. This is to allow any time for boring and assembly.

Easy Pitch Adjustment

Outstanding Power

Max-Prop Easy 4 blade has very low drag

Low Drag

Just like other Max-Prop propellers, the Easy feathers to a low drag position while sailing. Under sail the Max-Prop will increase sailing speed by about 15%, the largest difference being noticed when sailing in light air. When sailing with a fixed propeller the vessel has to overcome the fixed blade drag, installing a Max-Prop maximizes sailing performance.

Maxi prop initial use

I replaced a fixed 3 blade. The recommended maxi prop by PYI was the same diameter. The blade side is wildly different however. The Maxi prop does not generate nearly the same thrust as the fix blade. More sea trials will be needed to see if this even works. The staff at PYI were a bit unorganized so you need to keep on them to be sure the order is processed.

3 Blade Max Prop

My experience was great, from the selection process to ordering the right unit Fred Hutchison was very responsive to both emails and phone calls. The commitment on the shipping date was helpful in planning my haul out, PYI was just a great experience. Love the change in performance.

4 Blade Easy Prop

The only thing that didn't live up to the name "easy" was getting the old prop off.
The new feathering prop is a gorgeous work of craftmenship and it took less than an hour to install.
The boat is now ready to go into the water, looking forward to my first sail without a dragging prop.
Service for the purchase was excellent, a couple emails and a phone call from them to verify the dimensions, and a little over a week later the perfect prop arrived. Thanks

Max Prop review - pre install

I replaced a 13 inch fixed prop with a 13 inch max prop for my CAL 27 with 11 HP universal diesel. Unfortunately the blades of prop in the feather position are too large and do not clear the rudder. PYI suggested a direct exchange for a 12 max prop. I requested and received scaled drawing for 12” prop to verify will fit prior to exchange. PYI prepared drawings and sent to me via email. I scaled up to full size and verified 12” max prop will work with minor mods. I will have to shave up to 1/2” from rear of my strut to provide the 1/2” clearance required for water flow through cutlass bearing. You see, the hub of the max prop is longer than standard fixed prop and quite substantial. The max prop is quite impressive and hefty. The grease kit is well made and complete. I am planning to replace the prop shaft with new ss alloy unit and will update this review after install and performance test.. in late spring. I am giving 5 stars for customer service and visual quality of max prop. Happy sailing.
