A stainless steel rotor that is slid down the shaft and secured with set screws at 90 degrees for maximum holding power. Precision tolerances are maintained by computer-controlled lathes. The faces have a number 9 micro finish and are perpendicular to the bore to prevent run-out as the collar rotates. The Carbon Stator will polish the face of the rotor during the first few minutes of operation. The stainless steel rotor should not need to be replaced under normal operating conditions. The stainless steel rotor used on the PSS Shaft Seal is made from 316L stainless steel.
Needing a rotor, I ordered the part for a two day delivery to rural Eastern North Carolina It arrived on the spot. I really like my PSS and being able to get a part quickly, and efficiently, well that makes a customer's life easy: 5 stars.
Installer didn’t check the shaft was straight or put enough pressure on the steel collars and carbon face. This resulted in the unit constantly leaking. We replaced the main parts and had our shaft straightened and now operates as expected.
Showed up early and as advertised
Good attention
I usually don’t take the time to write reviews, but in this case I feel PYI deserves my response. I had a lot of questions regarding my needs to complete my boat repair project. I spoke with Alan and Ben regarding replacement components to complete my rudder stock seal. I already have converted my prop shaft stuffing box over to their PSS seal system and it’s preforming flawlessly. The staff at PYI understood my questions and possess excellent product knowledge.
One added note. From order to doorstep I received my order two earlier than expected.
