Crystal Prop is a self-cleaning, biocide-free, non-exfoliating, long-lasting paint. Designed specifically for use on Propellers, Shafts, Struts, SailDrives, Outdrives, and other metallic underwater gear. When applied, it creates a durable hard, slick surface that marine growth does not adhere to. Crystal Prop does not need a primer, thanks to its superior adhesion to metal. This makes it extremely durable and will hold up to propeller cavitation. The Crystal Prop kit consists of two bottles containing paint and hardener, which are mixed with a 1:1 ratio. This is a single-coat application that can be applied by brush or spray.
*** Crystal Prop can only ship via UPS Ground or FedEx Ground ***
Coverage guide for a 100ml kit of Crystal Prop. A 100ml kit of Crystal Prop will cover approximately 1.5 square meters or 2,325 square inches of metal.
Number of Blades | Diameter of Propeller | Number of Applications |
3 blade | 16" | 5 |
4 blade | 20" | 3 |
3 blade | 34" | 1 |
Crystal Prop creates an extremely smooth propeller surface resulting in decreased water resistance. This improves the overall performance of the vessel, resulting in higher hull speed, lower fuel consumption and resistance to the onset of cavitation. Marine growth will not attach to the paint. A treated propeller cleans itself as soon as it starts rotating, unlike traditional antifouling paints Crystal Prop will not lose its effectiveness with more use.
It creates an excellent barrier against corrosion, by forming a strong protective film over the metal blocking it against galvanic currents. This will extend the life of sacrificial anodes. Crystal Prop is an ecologically friendly product; free of harmful toxins, biocides and metals.
Looking for a hassle-free solution to protect your boat from fouling? Look no further than Crystal Prop. Unlike other antifouling coatings, Crystal Prop is incredibly easy to apply. You can use a brush or spray gun to apply a single layer, and that's it! The result is a durable protective coating that keeps your boat looking and performing its best. Plus, with a dry-to-the-touch time of just 2 hours and a launch-ready time of 48 hours, you'll be back on the water in no time.
Q: How long does Crystal Prop take to dry?
A: Crystal Prop is dry-to-the-touch in just 2 hours and launch-ready time of 48 hours.
Q: Do I need to apply primer before Crystal Prop?
A: No primer is needed.
Q: What colors are available?
A: Only Clear is available at this time.
Q: Is Crystal Prop toxic?
A: Crystal Prop is an ecologically friendly product; free of harmful toxins, biocides and metals.
Q: How does Crystal Prop work?
A: It dries to a hard and slippery surface that allows it to function like an antifouling paint. Marine growth can not adhere to the surface, once water flows over the surface any growth will slip off.
Q: What is the shelf life of Crystal Prop?
A: Crystal Prop has a shelf life of 2 years if unopened and stored in a cool, dry place. However, once opened, it can only last up to 6 months if resealed correctly. To ensure that the product stays fresh, it is important to seal the bottle securely and store it upside down after opening.
Q: Is Crystal Prop repairable?
A: Yes, for re-application it is sufficient to sand the surfaces with 240 grit sandpaper and apply again.
Everything came as ordered & good quality. Went on well per the instructions. Spreads evenly and a little covers a lot.
However, the supplied measuring cup is too big for a 3 blade 16" prop. Causing me to mix too much. Mix less than you think you'll need or you'll be wasting some.
Time will tell how it holds up. Will try to update this time next year!
It went on easily enough. Talk to me at the end of the season to see how it worked.
Great service, quick response
As advertised, it's easy to use and apply. Can't help the 48 hour drying time so plan accordingly. I'll do another review in 2 months
Pros - no primer needed, hard slick finish, sprayable without dilution, does not have to be removed to re-coat, thin coat uses less product, fast dry to dust free/ touch.
Cons - too early to tell how well it works, requires 48 hours before launch, no guide on quantity to use (creates wasted material), expensive.
I like it!
